Why not every school in Tangerang implementing Sekolah Penggerak Curriculum?
Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim has launched the Merdeka Belajar program, one of the programs is Sekolah Penggerak Curriculum on February 1, 2021. This program has not been fully implemented evenly in every school in Indonesia.
Essentially, Sekolah Penggerak Curriculum focuses on student self-development and the application of the Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Not only that, but this curriculum also helps develop student skills such as project-based learning. In addition to students, teachers also get
the opportunity to innovate by changing learning strategies in order to achieve maximum results.
One of the schools in Sepatan, Tangerang, is not implementing this new curriculum program. According to Muhammad Nurul Alam who is one of the educators there, the school has not met the standards to implement it. “I personally want this school to implement it. However, looking at the conditions in schools for facilities, human resources, and the environment is not supported yet,” he says.
He says “One of the obstacles in human resources is that teachers are not ready to use technologies. In addition, the environment is also very influential. However, not only in the school environment but also in the family. Many parents of the students here do not really care about their children's educational facilities. For example, out of 30 students in a class, only a few have adequate facilities.”
To be able to implement this program, there needs to be a relationship between the school and the family of the student. Meanwhile, at this school, the students tend to come from lower-middle families so they do not have the learning support. Therefore, this becomes one of the considerations if the school wants to implement the Sekolah Penggerak Curriculum.
Essentially, to develop a curriculum, it is necessary to have a relationship between several parties. The Sekolah Penggerak Curriculum can be implemented with careful preparation and support from several factors including the environment, facilities, and human resources.
Without supporting factors, it is difficult for schools to carry out curriculum development.
